Company History

Mansfield 4x4 was formed in 1993, as a Land Rover specialist, and has subsequently moved to larger premises on three occasions as the company rapidly expanded to become one of the largest independent Land Rover and Jeep service and repair specialists in East Anglia.

Jeep qualified technicians were employed in 2001, and other skills were acquired to enable all popular 4x4’s to be serviced and repaired from that date on.

In response to demand for Land Rover servicing and parts in the Bury St.Edmunds area a satellite workshop was opened to the West of Bury St Edmunds on the Northern Way Industrial Estate This provided the servicing and parts supplies for Bury and its surrounding areas.

In 2002 Allmakes Ltd (a major wholesaler of Land Rover and Jeep parts) became the major shareholder in the company and some major changes were made to improve the company’s financial and operating performance. In 2003 John Curran an experienced fleet management and maintenance manager joined the company as the MD, and a significant shareholder, and continued the transformation of the company started by Allmakes. The company then formally change its name to Mansfield 4x4 Ltd but trades under this name and Mansfield Motors.

Allmakes were dependant on Mansfield 4x4 for its Jeep technical support and decided in 2008 to concentrate on Land Rover parts and stop wholesaling Jeep parts. In May 2008 Mansfield 4x4 took over all of the Jeep stock held by Allmakes and the Allmakes Jeep Spares web site. Mansfield then moved from being a retailer of Jeep parts to a wholesaler.

From 2008 Mansfield 4x4 has been importing Jeep parts and accessories from America and other countries and is able to offer the trade and public quality parts and accessories for Jeep Vehicles at very competitive rates.

In December 2009 the Mansfield 4x4 workshop at Bury St. Edmunds was sold to the staff working there and a new company was formed there. Whilst being two completely independent companies now, we still have a very good working relationship and try to help each other where we can.
